The Secret Message of Jesus

The Exploring Christian Faith class came to a close yesterday we made final arrangements for our Easter Baptism Celebration. This Sabbath seven of the class members will be baptized. Please join us for this exciting celebration. If you want to get in on the next go around, please email me or call my office (323.462.0010). We will be having another baptism around Christmastime.

In the meantime two more things will happen in our journey: the Thursday night Exploring Christian Faith class will continue to meet bi-weekly and take a three or four week look into Seventh-day Adventist history. We'll be using a book called A Brief History of Seventh-day Adventists, by George Knight. If you want to join us, pick up a copy of this book and stay tuned for the new schedule. We'll most likely start on May 4.

Finally, on Saturday, April 22, my 9:30 am class (which I'm  now calling, The Journey) will begin a  new study called The Secret Message of Jesus. This class will follow the outline of a new book by the same title by my friend, Brian McLaren. Please pick up this book and join us at 9:30 am on Saturday mornings at the church for a exciting and challenge look at the teachings of Jesus.

The Journey Starts Tonight

Tonight we begin our journey in a six part class called, Exploring Christian Faith. The first lesson is entitled A New Way to Be Human (which is a theme, here, it seems). You can download the first lesson by clicking the link at the left. You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open it, but everyone has that now, right? I really hope you'll come out tonight, if you can. A huge part of this process is journeying together in community. You can't download that...sorry!

Exploring Christian Faith

This Thursday, March 9, we begin our 6-week class, Exploring Christian Faith. This class is specifically designed for anyone who is new to Christian faith or simply wanting to explore Christianity in a fresh way with new friends. All are invited. Our class will be held in the Youth Chapel of the Hollywood Church, this Thursday, from 7:30 - 9:00 pm. We will continue each Thursday until April 13. Some have expressed a desire to be baptized or join the church in some way a the conclusion of this class.
