The Hollywood Prayer Network (HPN), a non-denominational Christian prayer ministry, was established in 2001 to pray for those in entertainment. Possibly one of their biggest events yet was planned this month: a call for a mass prayer meeting in Hollywood during Oscar weekend.
I somehow ran across this story on the Christian Broadcasting Network's website. The story goes on to say, "Churches and parachurch organizations were invited to the event held at the Mears Center of Hollywood Presbyterian Church." This apparently happened today. I heard nothing about it. Does this strike anyone else as a little weird? Maybe it's just me but I would not be that interested in such an event. It just strikes me as conservative Christians trying to "fix" Hollywood.
You can find out more about the Hollywood Prayer Network at their website.

Not sure about this one. i feel like it could be well intentioned, or kind of as you describe it, trying to "fix" hollywood. of course, prayer isn't bad and i wonder if there would be away to stand with the people of hollywood rather than in (what seems like) opposition to them.
also, don't you wonder why you didn't hear of this? was it something to do with you being part of the seventh-day adventist church?

Let me first state, I am not familiar with HPN. As such, I cannot fully give a well informed opinion as the work done by HPN. Nonetheless, if HPN is another "proxy" prayer group that serves the overt socio-political agenda of the Christian Right under the guise of "ministering to the spiritual needs" of Hollywood, then HPN would be, in my personal humble opinion, quite disappointing. Hopefully, the HPN event was nothing like "Justice Sunday" events(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_Sunday_(conservative_Christian_event))that shamefully degenerate into nothing more than staged mass political rallies for the GOP. On the other hand, if HPN is truly a ministry genuinely interested in being a "spiritual" helping hand to the spiritual needs of the Hollywood, then kudos for HPN.

Hey There,
I just happened upon your site. Just giving my opinion as one who will in the next 2 months join the HPN group. I don't know what others have done in the past and am not concerned but there is a group of people that are praying such as our group as well as the HPN group that are not coming with judgement but coming with geniune love and concern for those who desire change and those who are seeking what they are truly purposed for. The whole purpose of the prayer is to stand with you and for you for any concerns in you life. Nothing more.
I work in government as a Senior Executive Staff member for our Governor, I am also a pastor, I am also a single parent and have been through a lot! I know what God can do. I was in the night club world for years because we owned several but even while there I was struggling with my true purpose and so I sought God. I said that to say there are many in this situation so please don't knock prayer and seeking God. Let those who want pray seek that. One word of life can stop someone from committing suicide. I live in the arena with the government and I have had the divine opportunity to be a comfort through prayer to those you would not believe.
Our main objective is to be here for you. Whether you know it or not you all have a great responsibility to direct hundreds of thousands of people. You too have a ministry! A have responsibility! I think it is a wonderful thing that I stumbled on this website. I will keep you all in prayer!
Love Ya Much!
