Tomorrow I have a rare privilege and I really need your prayers! I am going to be speaking at a press conference with Jim Wallis to speak out in favor of Proposition 86, which will be on the November ballot. Jim will speak first and I will go on after him. I only have three minutes and will speak on behalf of LA Voice and why the faith community in Los Angeles has supported this initiative, not only in principle, but by gathering signatures throughout our communities. I will post a video of the event after it is over.
If you are local and can get away, please come and support me and the initiative. The event will be held tomorrow (Thursday, Sept. 7) at 9:00 am at the Bresee Foundation (184 S. Bimini Place, LA 90004). Click here for a map.

Yes on Prop 86 website

Where will the money officially go (even in fine print) if this prop passes? Make sure to include that in your speech (and don't be a freaky extremist political liar like a lot of people trying to pass props; I hate that ish.)

I think the bill should be revised so that more funding goes to research. What about those suffering now. Not only will more funding to research stop smoking related deaths, but it will stop other health related problems. I think the research funding should be put up to 50 cents more per cigarrette. So that's a $3.08 tax per pack. They should do this to alcohol too. It's an epidemic that causes way to many medical problems. It's not about only the strong surviving, it's about taking care of business in the health of this country. I'd feel better for my smoker friends if they had a solution to the dilemma they're causing in their bodies. I think smoking should be banned on all college campuses and nicotine replacements (i.e. the patch and such) should be made cheaper. In fact, since California is so health conscious, I think people should only be able to smoke inside their houses and out in their backyards. As a previous smoker, I can say the amount of cigarette butts I see on the ground is disgraceful to the not only the human body, but our mother earth. Smoking is contageous, when one smoker lights up the one next to it lights up too. It's like they're robots connected to an evil chain that downward spirals. In California, I've gone to bars where people smoke inside and I almost could of died. I think it gave me too high of a blood pressure. I have medical problems that need to be put in perspective that suggest one not to smoke. And inhaling other people's smoke actually destroys the healing process of your lungs that takes about two decades. Funk Tobacco. 'Cause that's what it is--lung funk. Wet, goey, bloody, and chunky lung funk. So support the fundage 'cause we need to be above this. And you know marijuana does the same exact thingamajig to your lungs. I researched it in the "Marijuana question" (sorry that wasn't underlined for you pissed off people who will pick on any little tiny grammatical error because you can "suck on my chocolate salty balls".) Anyways, go no smoking, yes on prop 86 go! Rah Rah Ree! Kick that stinky tobacco and it's funky tree. It needs to be illegal 'cause smoking is probably gonna kill my generation if y'all don't stop it. Ish, for all you smokers out there, all I can say is eat pleanty of veggies, fruits with antioxidants and drink pleanty of water. Yeah I'm a freak, but at least I'm not a freak that's gonna lose. Call me abnormal, but you know the tobacco industry created a stink and totally lied about it. I love this world and I want as many people all over it to live as long as possible. Do you want your children to die?

Waaaah, waaaaah!!! Listen to all the non-smokers wine-e-wine!
Fewer and fewer people are smoking. and if they choose to do so, that's their right. Smoking isn't the only health issue facing this county. How about all the fat slobs out there that are are totally overweight? Why not tax their junk food and sodas or by the percentage of fat they have on them? How about drinkers? Booze kills, too. Oh, wait, I guess we wouldn't want to raise the price on wine because nice people drink, too.
Prop 86 is a fraud. People will only go out of state to buy. Yeah, Big Tabacco is slimy, but so are the idiots who wrote this proposition.
Who are they going to start picking on next after they get rid of all the evil smokers? Oh, don't worry, they'll zero in on someone, and that someone might just be you.
